Hi guys. Into the new year there would be greater challenges facing us. A new year also mean a new CHMA. In 2009 we missed CHMA due to the outbreak of H1N1, which was really unfortunate. I seriously want to do a successful CHMA together with all of you one last time before I leave the school as well as restore all our skill levels back to the mark. Always remember for the club to move on and upgrade itself, its a team effort, we can't progress without everyone's effort in their work. Happy New Year!

Updates and Notices will be posted here frequently so please make sure that you visit this blog few times a week.

Anyway, the tentative date for the Year End iMedia Camp is from
16th to 18th of November

We will update this blog if there is a change in date(most probably not) or further information about the camp.

IF we don't inform you, there will meeting at 2.30pm on Friday.
Which means that we will only inform you if there is no meeting on Friday that week.
So please make sure you attend the meetings on Fridays, attendance will be taken for every meeting.

Hi Guys... Since its going to be the end of the break just before your final lap of the year, it also sounds the bells for us to get crackin with work.

Without 1 MA let's make it up with another MA. SDMA (Schools Digital Media Awards) is part of te competitions we take part in every year, however, we didn;t take part last year due to time constraint.

The closing date for SDMA 2010 is 23 Nov 09 so do check out the themes and let me or JZ know ASAP if you have any ideas or want to be part of it. I strongly encourage you guys to take part, as this would be better than any training we can give you, because these are all hands on experiences and you would definitely learn and benefit more.

The training for Audio Crew is on Tuesday And Friday At 1.30- 5.30.

If you need to leave early or can only come slightly later please inform me, but at least come for the first part of the training.

By now, all of you guys should have got our smses.
We have decided to change our plans, and called off the overnight camp, reason being that there is also a review for chma finalists on friday. Hence we do not want to overtire you guys, and want you guys to go home and have a good rest.
However, there will be full day training for BOTH thursday and friday.
Please be at the studio by 1030am.
The full day training will end by 730pm on both days.

CHMA PREPARATION CAMP!

To all imedia members, there will be camp on 11/6 to 12/6.
Attendance for camp is compulsory.
Reporting time at 11am at studio.
It will be an overnight camp.
What we are going to do is to split you guys into your various crews for CHMA, and start/do preparation for the night itself.
Its more of a "work" camp then a "play" camp.
I do not think we need to post a packing list for you guys.
Just bring enough clothes and neccessities required. You guys will be sleeping at the studio again. Its air-conditioned, so please bring your long-sleeved clothes/sweaters etc.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE :
FOOD WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. BRING YOUR OWN MONEY. WE WILL BRING YOU GUYS OUT FOR MEALS.
NO BRINGING OF ANY ELECTRONIC HAND-HELD GAMES(EG PSP,GAMEBOY) OR LAPTOPS. - WE WILL CONFISCATE IF WE SEE ANY.
IF YOU ARE SICK, TELL US AND YOU WILL BE EXEMPTED FROM THE CAMP. (OF COURSE YOU MUST PRODUCE A MC.)
BEFORE YOU COME FOR THE CAMP, PLEASE MEASURE YOUR TEMPERATURE. IF YOU ARE HAVING A FEVER, DO NOT COME.

I hope all of you will come for the camp, as this are like the only 2 days we are calling you guys(applies to almost everyone) back for iMedia during the month-long holidays.

Singapore Youth and Media Camp 2009

Hi all,
We are encouraging all iMedia Sec 1 , 2 and 3 members to attend the Singapore Youth and Media Camp 2009 @ Ngee Ann Polytechnic from the 15th to the 17th of June.
It is NOT an overnight camp. The camp will start at 10 am and end at 5pm daily.
Transport is NOT provided, however i would advise and encourage all of you guys to meet up before going together.
Lunch will be provided everyday.
The camp fee is $80 per participant. However, if we send in our members in groups of 10, we have a special discount rate of $5 off for each of the student in the group.
There will be seminars and workshops throughout the camp.
They are mainly, "Violence in the media (seminar)", "Advertising messages(seminar)", "Sports and Media(seminar)", "Presentation Skills(seminar)", " Radio Workshop" and "Filming Workshop".
This registration forms MUST be faxed to the organising company by THIS FRIDAY, 8TH OF MAY.
PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED FIND ME PERSONALLY AT CLASS 4-8(4TH LEVEL) IN BETWEEN LESSONS,BEFORE SCHOOL OR AFTER SCHOOL. I WILL PASS YOU THE WHOLE CAMP BOOKLET CONTAINING MUCH MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CAMP AND ALSO THE REGISTRATION FORM.
REGISTRATION FORMS MUST BE PASSED TO ME LATEST BY THURSDAY.

Basic Rules to follow
· Line your shoes neatly at the entrance of the tracking room before going in.
· If you need to go to the toilet( or wherever ), as long as you are leaving the group, notify any EXCOS around.
· At night, if others are sleeping, please by considerate, e.g NO blasting of music
· On the evening of the first day, where we will be letting you guys go free and easy at J8 (eat dinner, walk about, (if you are going to the arcade, don’t wear any clothes that people can identify you as a cat high student.). Please be PUNCTUAL and reach the meeting spot ( will be decided on the day itself ) on time. Do not leave J8 and go back to school or whatsoever. DO NOT GO TO THE CINEMA AND CATCH A MOVIE.
· If you need to go to the toilet at night, please wake another person up to accompany you. ( If you get stuck on the toilet bowl, no one will be able to hear you shouting for help and come to your rescue.)
· Last but not least. INFORM ANY EXCO IMMEDIATELY IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL AT ANY POINT OF TIME AT THE CAMP. THE SAME THING APPLIES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. JUST WAKE ANY OF US UP( if we are sleeping )
Things to note.
We WILL be sleeping at the iMedia Studio.
The aircon will BE ON. So please bring long-sleeved clothes/pants or sweaters.
You will NOT be able to find any other camp more FUN than our iMedia Camp.
You are allowed to bring PSPs/MP3s/iPods/Handphones and whatsoever electronic device. Just don’t play at the wrong time( e.g during training/ice-breakers )
On Monday, please come before eating lunch.
Bring money to pay for your dinner on Monday, and $5 to pay for the camp. I understand that Mr Chris Teng told you guys that no money is needed to be paid for the camp, however, we decided to add in the water bomb segment, and to allow you guys to wake up later on Tuesday(= have more sleep), We WILL be buying breakfast for you guys.
So, please bring around $20 for the camp.
Meeting time is 2p.m at the iMedia Studio.
If you have some activities on, e.g for example NCC workshop? ( some people have notified me of them being down for some workshop) Come AFTER your activity.

THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE POST. PLEASE SMS ME ASAP TO NOTIFY ME IF YOU WILL BE COMING FOR THE CAMP, OR WILL BE COMING LATE DUE TO SOME ACTIVITY. AND BRING YOUR CONSENT FORM ALONG ON MONDAY WHEN YOU COME.
Also, please take note that there is little/no reception in the imedia studio, so please tell your parents not to worry if they cant get through to your handphone.

Revival of blog + New Duty List.

Hi all,

The EXCO will start using the blog to post about the latest news, activities and CIP available for you guys.

A new system will be introduced where you will have to SMS me for the CIP that you are interested to help out for.

Last but not least, this is the new morning assembly duty list.

As you can see, there are two duty list. One if for odd weeks, one is for even weeks.

The sec 1's have been split up into two groups, one group only comes on even weeks, the other group comes on odd weeks. The sec 2's will be required to come for morning duty every week.

Please take note on which week and day are you required to come for duty.

Basic rules to take note.

1) If its not your duty day, do NOT go to the General Office or the control center for the plaza outside the hall control room. There are already ENOUGH people on duty.

2) Reporting time for morning assembly duty is 7.15am at the General Office.

->If you leave far away from school, and you have difficulties reaching school at 7.15am, you are allowed to report for duty by 7.30am.

->Please inform your duty IC's ( the sec 3's on duty for your day) at least one day in advance if you cannot make it for morning duty assembly.
->In the event that you will be late for duty( e.g oversleep or so) PLEASE be RESPONSIBLE and inform your duty IC straight away.

The chalet we will be staying at is Aloha Loyang Resort at Pasir Ris.

Here is a list of things that you are required to bring for the Camp, which is held from the 3rd to 5th of September:

New Term 2 Morning Assembly Duty List

Hello all!

Here is the Term 2 Morning Assembly Duty list.

As mentioned during the meeting, the various Sec 1s, 2s and 3s will be carrying out morning assembly from TOMORROW onwards. The duty list will take immediate effect and start tomorrow. There are currently three sec4s on duty everyday to act on stand by. If there are any difficulties like troubleshooting during morning assembly that you guys are unable to solve, simply sms any of the three sec4s on duty that very day. Or if you are unable to reach anyone, just sms any sec4 for help....

Besides all that, just to keep all informed, we will be upgrading the various Macs and softwares in both the studio and the mac lab, it has not been confirmed yet though, but i thought i would just keep you guys informed!

Firstly....

We will be purchasing 15 New iMacs for the Mac lab!

Next, the Studio G5s will be replaced by 2 Mac Pros!

8 Intel Cores!!!

So far all these had not been confirmed yet, but if so, we will have Macs in the studio and mac lab that run extremely fast!

Hopefully the school approves the upgrade!

I was browsing the net when i found this application that may be of some use to you guys and thought that i might as well share it with you guys, it is called Launchy.

After installation, the application would run in the background, once you need the application, you would just have to press alt + space, and a pop up like this would appear.

To launch your application, you would just have to type in the name of the application and press enter, saves time huh? Also it does not clog up your ram, so it is as good as non-existent!

This post was probably due a long long time ago but better late than never....

CH Music Awards 2007.... Was a job EXTREMELY WELL DONE. Ranging from all the various crews, the Stage Design Crew, the Audio Crew, the BackStage Crew, the Video Crew and the Publicity Crew, you guys have done yourself proud!

Just think about it, there are probably no secondary schools that are able to bring in Professional Lighting, Floor-shaking SubWoofers for a TalentShowcase. Of course, there are many schools that are 'attempting' (emphasis on attempting) to try and stage such a concert but have not really been successful. If you guys do not believe it, heres a list of things that many schools cannot accomplish but we have.

Risk Our lives to put up a stage design for the concert
Have audio mixing done to perfection
have the backstage crew work efficiently
Have a wonderful video crew that was able to show how much work we put in
provide so much publicity such that even old boys and people from other schools came to watch (yes, that was the extent)

If you guys think about it, it was a good good job done. Without further ado, CH MUSIC AWARDS 2007 would not be successful Valuable Members and Almuni of iMedia CHS and of course the teachers who have also put in much hardwork....

In a few hours time, we'll be showcasing our baby, not only to Catholic High, not only to students, but to people of all ages, races and schools.

Treat this as though it is the last CHMA. Really. Our effort, our sweat, our blood flows within CHMA.

Let me tell you a story. A few months ago, I took part in a CIP event where I have to bring mentally disabled people around AJ, play games and interact with them. I was chatting with this girl, Jacqueline (please, no rumours), and she told me that she visited this school called Catholic High with her sister before. Naturally, I asked why she go there. She told me, "I went there to watch a concert, because my sister's friend was performing. The concert was very nice and I enjoyed it very much."

Imagine how surprised I was, to realise that she still keeps the CHMA06 ticket in her wallet. Premium ticket. CH Music Awards is not merely a school concert. It has touched lives. People WILL remember CHMA. The ticket sales may not show but we ourselves know it in our hearts. CH Music Awards has made a great impact not only on us, but also the audience.

Let us make CHMA a success. Let us make it the best show our audience has ever seen. And let us show that bugger at the top that the CCA policy is totally CRAP because iMedia definitely isn't a second-class CCA!

1. Talks by Teachers and External Speakers
From the 16th to the 25th of April. All morning assemblies would be held in the hall. All those on duty for these days please take note that only the hall needs to be set-up whilst the parade square does not need to be set-up.

2. Cluster Cultural Quiz
So far, only Hua Peng, Darren Choong and I are going for the duty on this day. It lasts from 1430 to 1800 next Tuesday (17/4). This event HAS CIP (i think). Anymore people who want to come for duty please let me know.

3. Movie Screening
For this, I have asked at the meeting however no one volunteered to set-up. Hence I would therefore reluctantly 'arrow' people to do it.

There will be two training days, Thurs and Fri, for the Sec 1s and the rest of the levels respectively. As Ervin has posted earlier, the Sec 1s will have to report outside the Mac lab at 03.00 p.m. this coming Thursday and the training should end around 4.30 p.m., if everything goes well. For the other levels (Sec 2, 3 & 4), your training day will be this coming Friday. All levels are to report for the training in the Mac lab. Even though some of you have already mastered these skills, Mr. Teng thinks that it is wise for you to refresh them. As for the Sec 1s, this will be the day that you will be re-tested on what you've learned the day before. Every other level will be trained and tested on Friday.

Infocomm Club? Yuck.

Hi guys. Cepheus here.

I've heard about the infocomm thing.

My opinion? It is unnecessary.

Firstly, name. "Infocomm Club"? I prefer "iMedia" thank you very much. "Infocomm Club", what a dull name. The media is all about creativity. "Infocomm Club", even the name sounds dead. Furthermore, it sounds so IT Club. Not that I don't like IT Club or anything, but I hate it when people mix up iMedia with IT Club. You may think it's just a minor issue. To me it isn't. I definitely want the name "iMedia" to be used in both internally and externally. In addition, "Infocomm Club" is already a name used in 128 schools in Singapore. Don't make me yawn...

Secondly, it's not like iMedia will collapse without joining it. iMedia still has room to improve. Lots of it. Software: Soundtrack Pro, Logic Express, Nuendo, DVD Studio Pro, Motion, FCP. Hardware: Studio, cameras, Macintoshes! We may have learned how to use them, but we have not mastered them.

Thirdly, I'm worried that participating in this Infocomm Clubs Programme (In case you're wondering, yes, I know what it's all about) will cause iMedia to stray from its own path. In the midst of participating in infocomm activities and fulfilling the conditions to remain in the programme, I'm afraid iMedia may get distracted. I certainly don't want a situation where, for example, CH Music Awards is ill-prepared and rushed due to members taking part in infocomm events.

Forthly, do you think the advantages (or disadvantages) we gain are worth it? In my opinion, the benefits of this programme is not significant. 10k? Not a lot when it comes to hardware. iMedia focuses more on audio and video production, as well as CH Music Awards of course. The programme's focus areas are more of digital media, mobile technologies, software development, security & networking and games development. The only relevant one is digital media. Sounds more like IT Club's activities.

I've checked out the activities of Infocomm Club Programme. Highlights of Infocomm Clubs 1^st Anniversary, 4 low-res pictures. Student Infocomm Workshop, 6 low-res pictures. Both barely describe what the events are about. It looks more like a fun fair to me. I don't think that IDA is putting in enough effort to promote this programme to other schools. One of the most active Infocomm Club is the one from VJC. Guess what? They don't even host their own videos on their own site. It's all words. It started since last year, but their progress is a crawl. No offence ar, VJ ppl.

Frankly speaking, iMedia is already better than many many CCAs out there, even CCAs from JCs. Are you sure we're progressing forward if we're joining this programme? Or will we be stabbing ourselves in the foot just to get Cat High on the news again? Or simply to give Mr Lee something to boast about to outsiders?

I've left the school, which means I don't have the right to change anything. But as a senior of iMedia, I do have the right to voice out my views. You can choose to accept, or not. I sincerely hope that you make a choice that you will not regret later. Changes are inevitable, it's just whether they are good or bad. Don't change for the sake of changing. I'm sure many of you knows what this means. It has happened before, and you all have seen the consequences.

iMedia is yours. Never let others drown out your voices.

Morning Duties and Handphones

Firstly, the committee would like to stress again that each of you have to come down on the respective days for your different morning assemblies. Each of you only has one day per week to do duty, so make it a point to reach school by 6.45am to set-up. The latest time to arrive is 6.50am. If there are any other additional places to be set-up, the excos on duty for the respective weeks will inform you all. Please pass this notice around. And just in case you still do not know your duty days, please pop by the general office to check it out.

Failure to comply will result in being scheduled for saturday duties and names being sent to Mr Goh Kee Yong. The attendance for morning assembly duty will also be counted as half of your CCA attendance. The other half will come from attendance at general meetings.

Secondly, please have your phone on your body at all times (not as in stuck to your body but in your pocket), and make sure it has battery. It is really hard for us to contact you all for duties, E.G. Wednesday Assemblies, Carpe Diem, etc. So it would do us all a great favour if you would keep this 2 simple things in mind.

Stricter Rules

Other than duties, there is still one more thing that has to have a stricter rule. NO ONE, i stress again, NO ONE should misuse any of our equipments at any occasion. No usage of school equipments for personal uses. No bringing of the equipments home unless it is borrowed from mdm chia and you have told her how long you are going to use it. Example of misusing of equipment is to use the mike and announcing something during assembly or celebration for personal benefits.

This has already happened at least once and I do not wished to see another incident happening. If anyone is to misuse any of the equipment, you will get it from me or the EXCO personally.
